The promised land

The Promised Land is a visual and reading book that brings together the poetry of Willem Wilmink, writer, poet, and elocutionist ("in my books I want to show that there are valuable things in this world") and the paintings of Ton Schulten. In these, mostly previously unpublished, poems by Willem Wilmink, his greatest strength is constantly apparent: to evoke a beautiful and universally recognizable image with a simple word, a short description, a striking characterization. Painter Ton Schulten finds his inspiration in the diverse and geometrically shaped Twente landscape. His work is a constant search for light and the perfect color.
