Exhibition POWER

Chris Tap's work captures not only the physical power of animals, but also their inner mystique.

Chris Tap is known for his exceptional eye for detail and the intense, almost human gaze he imbues his sculptures with. The eyes of his animals aren't lifeless forms; they seem to be watching, thinking—and above all, looking back. Anyone who encounters one of Tap's lions, panthers, or other animals is invited to self-reflection. What do you see in the animal's gaze? What does it reflect about you?

Tap combines classical techniques with a contemporary sensibility. He studies his subjects extensively, observing them in the wild or in zoos, and uses anatomical studies and skull models to get to the heart of each creature he brings to life. Yet, ultimately, it is the soul of the animal—captured in the expression of its eyes—that defines his work.

His images are not an end point, but a beginning: of an encounter, a story, a thought that lingers for a long time.
